ITALY ! pt. 1

Last week was spring break and i went to ITALY. It was my first time in Europe and I loved it! Our group from AHS was me, Kelsey, Keith, Jeremy, Ethan, Danny, Justin, Kalila, Grody Bitch, and Big&Lil.  We met at SFO on Thursday, where we flew to Heathrow and then Rome. At the airport, we met the group that we would travel with for the remainder of the trip. They're from Vernon Township, New Jersey. They are Jeff, Mike, Anthony, Erin, Marc, Alanna, Samantha, Krysten, Travis, Kayla, Chris, and Andrew.  They were all really nice, but we weren't really friends with any of them yet.

Our first day in Rome, after we got off the plane, we went to visit the Spanish Steps.  It was really pretty and there were lotsa people.  We had dinner in an empty restaurant reserved just for us.  Doin it biggg! We arrived at our hotel, which was really creepy and seemed haunted.  We were all staying on floor 3, which was really the 4th floor.  I roomed with Kelsey, Kalila, and some hoe.  In the morning, we went to the Coliseum, some ancient ruins, and then to the Vatican during the afternoon. The architecture in Rome was really spectacular.  We also saw the Sistine Chapel. All the artwork there was really beautiful, and I was surprised that it was all intact.  We tried to go to St. Peter's Basilica at the end of the day, but the Pope was going to be there for Easter so we got free time to roam the area instead.  By the time we went to dinner, everyone was tired from jetlag and walking around all day.  Some of us even fell asleep in the restaurant.  After dinner we went back to the hotel and packed our things, because we were going to Florence the next day.

The next morning, we all got up, had breakfast, and loaded our luggage onto the bus.  We drove a few hours to some pottery factory (I don't know where it was because I was asleep the whole bus ride there, but I'm pretty sure it was somewhere in the Tuscany region), and there was also a store portion that sold pottery, meats, cheeses, wines, and food.  I bought salami, chocolate croissants, pesto sauce, and olive oil to bring back home.  After that we went to lunch.  After lunch, we drove to the hilltop town of Assisi, where the St. Francis Basilica is.  It was raining the whole time so that kind of sucked.  But the town was really cute, and we got a really good view of the rural landscape below us.  The streets were lined with cute little shops such as weapons shops (lulz), chocolate shops, and even a cashmere sweater shop.  Inside the church, the paintings were beautiful too, just like the ones in Rome.  After we left Assisi, we headed straight for Florence.

When we got to Florence it was pouring.  We settled into our rooms, which were all on different floors. I roomed with Kelsey and Erin.  That night, we walked through the streets of Florence to go to dinner.  Before we got to the restaurant, we rubbed some coins on some metal pig's snout and dropped it through the little slots under it (for good luck I guess?).  I didn't really get it but whatever.  Florence had some really good designer shops (as well as affordable ones like H&M) and I got excited for the free time that we were going to get the next day to shop.  WE finally got to the restaurant and I was soo glad to be able to take my flip flops off and not worry about falling in the middle of the street.  The pizzeria we went to served us 3 pizzas per table, along with an appetizer and dessert.  After dinner, we went back to the hotel and chillaxed before curfew.  After curfew and roomchecks, everyone came into me, Kelsey, and Erin's room and we just hung out and played 10 fingers and whatnot.  ALSO, we met an Italian guy from down the hall named Nicola.  His friends/roommates were at the discoteca, he was drunk and in his jammies, and his English was ridiculously horrible.  He was also super bad at charades. But he was hilarious and that was all that mattered.  Everyone was in our room until about 2am, when they left to go to their respective rooms.  My roommates and I all went to bed, but throughout the night our phone kept ringing and it was really annoying because I was the one who was closest to the phone.  Sometimes I just left it off the hook just so it wouldn't ring again.  Also, during the night, I had a really bad stomachache but thought nothing of it.  In the morning, my whole room woke up extremely late, like 5min before breakfast time.  We all boosted and ran to breakfast, but as soon as I walked out the door with hoebag and Erin, I turned around and told them to go without me because I had to yakk. And that is what I did.  I ended up telling the teachers that I didn't want to risk my health and go out that day, especially in the pouring rain.  So I stayed in and slept all day while everyone was out shopping.  It actually wasn't too bad. Other people were sick too, like Mikey, Marc, Travis, and Ms W's daughter.  When everyone got back it wasn't all that great because people were sick so everyone just kind of kept to themselves.  But I was feeling a lot better after sleeping all day.  That night, other people got sick too, like Erin and Jeremy.  Keith and I heard Erin throwing up in the middle of the night, and it was pretty damn gross. ):

my horrible 4 day weekend

my 4 day weekend was supposed to be hella fun, being a 4 day weekend. but it sucked hella much.

on friday, i was supposed to go shopping with my brother to help him pick out a valentine's day prezzie for his girlfriend suzanna. i invited my bes fran micki to come with us because i don't really like going with my brother by ourselves. i assumed he would be inviting one of his friends too. but he didn't and he didn't want to go and be a supposed "third wheel". i didn't have any money to go shopping so micki came and picked me up to go to chinatown, where my parents work. i got money from them and we headed back to micki's because her little brother KYYYYYLE wasn't supposed to be home alone and their dad wasn't supposed to be home until 3. ACTUALLY, he came home at like 7:30. so we couldn't go shopping that day. we also wanted to go see a movie at 7:15 but it was too late. i hella would've went to a movie later in the night but i had a swim meet early the next morning. instead, we watched some movie called "love actually". it made us depressed because we probably hate valentine's day more than anyone else on earth. chyup. then to top it all off, I GOT REAR ENDED WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM MICKI'S HOUSE. it was so scary, especially since i don't even have my license yet. we messed up the muffler of the van and the spare tire fell out from the bottom of the car. my mom got whiplash all over again too. so that suckkkks.

i knew forsure that saturday couldn't be any worse than friday because i was gonna spend the day with my favorite people - swimmers. i went to santa cruz for the junior trials & finals meet with my coach, jared, emile, and my hubby curtits. it kinda sucked because i don't really like jared at the moment, but it was fine. i was in the first heat of my first event, which hasn't happened to me in over 5 years. so i was embarrassed and frustrated when i came in last in my heat. i was really upset and crying after my race. my coach got pissed and scratched the rest of my events for that day. it was truly embarrassing as that has never happened to me and i felt really disappointed in myself. my morning may have sucked, but at least i got to go shopping in the afternoon with micki. then i came home and had dinner at my house with my family, because it was chinese new years eve (:

sunday was chinese new year! it was also valentine's day but no one really gives a fuck about that bullshit holiday (: i got money from my parents and it was pretty coo. then i went to car dealerships with my dad (my favorite thing in the world) and that cheered me up and got me excited for the rest of the weekend. that night, me and my dad went to dinner in daly city with his side of the family. i got losta moneyyy and it was great. then i went to a pathetic excuse for a party at this boppa's house to keep my friend/twin erica company. there was just a lot of drama there.. sloppy people, angry people, and emo people; bloddy noses, injured shoulders and ankles, and i had to pretty much babysit everyone. it was such a horrid experience. i just wanted to kill everyone there... but i always feel like that. it was just heightened at the slut's house. erica and daniel lau walked me home around 2am and i went to bed at 4:30.

on monday, i tried and failed at attempting to do homework. i went to swim practice before a birthday dinner for my gramps. and that was pretty much my weekend. there were only a couple good things in the midst of a shitstorm of poopiness. i really should have hung out with some other people. LAME

winter break.

so FINALLY it's the beginning of winter break, and even though we just had thanksgiving break, i feel like i've been waiting for this for hella long. everything has been stressing me out. i feel like i've been pulled too thinly between swimming, water polo, friends, family, homework/studying, and goddamn leadership.

although i've become used to the physical pain and stress swimming and water polo puts me through everyday, i feel like i don't have time to accomplish other things. i can't skip practices to do other things because now that i am a captain, i'm expected to practice 5 times a week. swimming consumes most of my time outside of school, and i've felt my social life diminishing since freshman year. i guess that's the price i hace to pay to o what i love.

omg HOMEWORK. i fail at doing homework. i am the biggest freaking procrastinator in the world. also, this week i had two big test: pre-cal and history. my estimated grades on the tests are C- and A- , respectively. haha. i definitely fail at pre-calculus and i don't even know why i'm in the honors class. i guess it makes my parents happy though.

the worst part about the past few weeks has been leadership. i hate a lot of the people i have to work with. i mean, i don't HATE them, but idefinitely wouldn't mind not working with them. i won't name names but some of them are stupid, some are distracted with their own stupid personal issues, and some of them of them are just plain DUMB. but they ALL have one thing in commmon: STUPIDITY. i hate people... especially when the sophomores have to plan our biggest event of the year: winter ball. this year we are going to have it at the old gym in the interest of saving some money. but yeahh.

to sum it up, i am so glad it's winter vacay and it's definitely good to have a break from some of the things putting strains on me physically and mentally. i hope i get to go to tahoe or something over break, because that'd be nice. :) also, i'm excited for christmas because it's the best time of the year. everyone rushing to do last-minute shopping, beautiful lights at night, starbucks peppermint mocha, the giant tree in union square. i love it all!
