" A passing crowd: "
Normally, I wouldn't think twice if a large group of people of a different race passed by me, which makes me wonder: why would this question be included in the survey?
It's possible that someone from a different class has had an experience in which they were frightened by a large group of people, but I really feel like this question was unnecessary.
Doing the survey also made me think back to my roots. I really don't know much about my Chinese heritage, but I know more than most of my other Chinese friends, which I am fortunate for. I look around and I see that they barely know anything about their culture, but the worst part is that they don't even care. I mean c'mon, I think it's fascinating to know your history and where you and your family came from. If you think that where you come from is irrelevant, you are sadly mistaken.
Many people long to know their roots, while others don't even care about it. Personally, I am proud to know both Mandarin and Cantonese. It makes learning other languages easier, plus it's just cool. I often hear, "I wish I knew how to speak another language." So i am truly blessed to have a family that has the time and patience to teach me about our past.
Somtimes I wonder about those ignorant people who could care less about their roots. It totally blows myh mind that someone WOULDN'T want to know about themselves. Every single race on Earth has a past, with different traditions, religions, and daily life. How does that not fascinate people?
This is simply beautiful. Just looking at it makes me want to know even more about my Chinese culture (:
Winnie! I was wondering what was going on...I had subscribed to the wrong url, so sorry I didn't see these until just now. I fixed your grade. You went from an F to an A. Not bad.
ReplyDeleteYeah, there were some questions in the survey that I didn't expect or see the purpose of at first, either. For me, that one was the one about CELDT testing. But it got a stronger reaction than I'd expected it to.
I hope to spend some time tomorrow morning turning the results into a powerpoint slide and putting that up for people to see...if I can figure out how...
VVVINNNIEEE! YOU ARE DEFINATLY VASSSUP!
